Focus on: Jackie - Corporate Events Manager

I came to Guide Dogs in 2000 after working for Jackie, Corporate Events Managerthe British Red Cross. I joined because I thought raising funds to provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people would be rewarding and interesting.

The best part about my job is the interaction I have with our clients, our volunteers and the Great British public, as well as the many opportunities I get to wax lyrical about what a fantastic organisation Guide Dogs is and how important our work is.

My main priority is to educate people and inform them about the work which we do. At many of the events I attend, people do have misconceptions regarding guide dog ownership, what it involves and who can apply. Events such as Crufts, Discover Dogs, Gardeners World and The Good Food Show are fantastic arenas for recruiting new supporters. These are also great events for raising funds and sharing information about the vital work we do in helping people who are blind and partially-sighted to have more independence and freedom.
