Reading Mobility Team

Welcome to the Reading Mobility Team webpages. Our team of 34 staff based in Winnersh, Berkshire, together with dedicated volunteers, works to deliver and raise awareness of Guide Dogs’ services and campaigns in: Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, West Sussex and Surrey to enable blind and partially sighted people to get out and about on their own terms.

Did you know there are approximately 22,000 registered blind and partially sighted people living in the counties mentioned above?

In order to live a full life and contribute to the local community, people need to be able to get around on their own. Every hour another person in the UK loses their sight. Guide Dogs works to make sure that when someone loses their sight, they don’t lose their freedom too.

We deliver the following Guide Dogs’ mobility services:

  • The Guide Dogs Service
  • Orientation and Mobility Training (cane training for those applying for a guide dog)
  • My Guide

and mobility services for children and young people (CYP), including:

  • The Buddy Dogs Service
  • CYP Guide Dogs Service

At any one time we’re supporting approximately 250 guide dog partnerships. Find out how our services could help you or someone you know.

Read about our extraordinary volunteers and how we are helping people with sight loss regain their independence.

Here to help

If we can’t help you directly, we’ll do what we can to work with other service providers in the area to meet your needs.

We hope these pages provide you with more information about our work and how you can get involved. If you think we can help you or someone you know, or you’d like to know more, contact us on the details below.

Thanks for your support,
The Reading Mobility Team
