Build Diary: May 2011

The relocation of the breeding centre from Tollgate to the new Guide Dogs National Breeding Centre started on Thursday 28th April.  Relocation of the dogs took place on Tuesday 3rd May and the operational aspects of the site were relocated by the end of that week.

The new address is:

Guide Dogs National Breeding Centre,

Banbury Road,

Bishops Tachbrook,

Leamington Spa,

Warwickshire

CV33 9WF

Key elements of the project tackled during May include:

  • Staff working over the bank holidays to move into the new building, preparing their work areas and making sure everything was in place before moving the dogs.
  • Finalising plans for graphics on the walls of the new centre, making it a welcoming environment or staff, volunteers and visitors.
  • Our breeding programme fully operational and working solely from the new centre including planned matings and more than 100 puppies coming through the centre for their vaccinations before being placed with their puppy walkers.
  • Monitoring the dogs which have moved home. Early indications show they are very relaxed and happy in their new home.
