In the Winter issue: Guide Dogs kicks off the year with its Winter edition of Forward, which includes the story of guide dog owner Katie Meakin’s journey on the road to independence with the help of her guide dog Lance and the unique contribution of Guide Dogs’ workshop, which developed a special harness to meet her unique needs.

Summer Forward 2011

Summer 2011 is the first edition in Guide Dogs’ new look and it’s our travel special, covering different aspects of travel with or without a guide dog. We profile a few of the amazing stories we’ve received from nominees in this year’s Guide Dog of the Year awards and you can find out about one of our most inspirational fundraisers, who has raised almost £100,000 in memory of her late husband.  We also take a look at a former guide dog pup who has retrained with the police as a specialist CSI dog.

Spring Forward 2011

In the Spring edition, Forward takes a look at the success of the Vision for Equality Conference and looks at the progress it made in identifying the needs to improve inclusivity and access for people with sight loss. Our featured guide dog owner is Jenny Mitchinson, who was able to train with her late husband’s guide dog Foster, and we look at how phone technology is now assisting both dog walkers and guide dog owners.

Winter sees us celebrate the work of Rags, one of our new buddy dogs, who brings emotional and social support to pupils at RNIB Rushton School and Children's home. We also feature Alison Corp and current dog Frances. Alison takes part in sighted dressage competitions and wins!

In autumn, new Chief Executive Richard Leaman promotes his message of collaboration with other organisations to meet our key aim of enabling more blind and partially sighted people to become mobile.  We celebrate the 'extraordinary partnerships' theme of this year's Guide Dog Week and guide dog Patsy is the focus of our feature, which takes a look at her career change from brood bitch to guide.
