Student applications

Interested in carrying out Guide Dogs canine research?

Guide Dogs have worked with students on a number of successful projects and we are always on the lookout for more student research collaborations. We would welcome students who are studying for an MSc or PhD; we will also consider recent graduates with relevant degrees and research experience. Please see our main research pages for information of our canine research areas of interest.

Guide Dogs can take on between 2 and 4 students a year and due to the number of student queries we receive we have in place an application process. We will require an application form to be completed, academic references and details of an academic sponsor as well as a comprehensive research proposal before successful candidates are chosen. Please be aware that this application process can take around three months for a decision to be made.

We also encourage teaching institutions to contact us if they would like to know more about the kind of projects and experience we may be able to offer their students.
