Student applications
Interested in carrying out research with Guide Dogs?
Guide Dogs have had a number of successful projects which we have run with the help of student volunteers. We welcome applications from students who are either studying for a relevant degree, masters, or PhD. Applications from graduates with relevant degrees and research experience will also be considered. Our research pages provide information on our main areas of interest.
Please be aware that we receive many student applications and due to our limited resources we apply strict selection criteria for applications. We can only consider taking on between 2 and 4 students per year. Academic references will be required for each applicant along with details of the academic sponsor and we will also ask for a detailed research proposal to be submitted before a candidate is selected for a project.
We continue to update a list of projects which students can apply for but are also willing in exceptional circumstances to consider a well thought out research proposal if there is a clear benefit to the GD organisation.
We also encourage teaching institutions to contact us if they would like to know more about the kind of projects and experience we may be able to offer their students.
