Technowatch Guidelines and Terms of Use

Technowatch aspires to be an environment where people can interact safely with their fellow users. The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (“we”) have implemented many safety and privacy controls on the Technowatch as part of our goal to enable people to share their information with other users. We are constantly moderating the site and looking at improving our systems for identifying and removing inappropriate content and people from the Technowatch.

Children aged under 16

Children under 14 years of age are not permitted to access or register on the Technowatch. If you are under 14 you should not submit any personal details or associated data to the site.  Children aged between 14 and 16 years of age should not access the site without explicit parental consent. Users aged 16 and over are free to register on the site.

Reporting inappropriate postings

Despite Technowatch's safety and privacy controls, we cannot guarantee that the site is entirely free of illegal, offensive or otherwise inappropriate material, or that its users will not encounter inappropriate or illegal conduct from other users on the site. Consequently, you may encounter such content and conduct. You can help us by notifying us of any inappropriate material, harassment or unwelcome contact by sending an email to technowatch@guidedogs.org.uk with the username of the offensive user.

Where complaints are made through the email address, if we consider that such material is inappropriate, we will remove the offending content and/or warn or, as appropriate and/or bar from the site those transmitting such content or engaging in such conduct within 72 hours of receiving your complaint.

Where complaints are made by independent email to technowatch@guidedogs.org.uk about nudity or pornography, or harassment or unwelcome contact, we will acknowledge receipt of your complaint and begin addressing your complaint within 72 hours of receipt. We will report back to you within 72 hours of receiving your email complaint to inform you of those steps we have taken to address the complaint which we are permitted to divulge.

We are solely responsible for complaint handling, and you should address all complaints or reports of abuse directly to us using the procedures described on this page.

We need all users to report suspicious people and inappropriate content they encounter on the Technowatch site to us. In addition though, we strongly advise users under the age of 16 NOT to arrange to meet anyone they have met on the site and to talk to their parents or a responsible adult immediately if someone online says or does something to make them feel uncomfortable or threatened in any way, or tries to arrange to meet with them.

Remember that people are not always who they say they are. You should always be careful when speaking to people on Technowatch site whom you do not know in the real world. It is always risky to meet anyone in person whom you don't know through real world friends.

Always follow these important safety tips when using the Technowatch:

• Never share your password with anyone.
• Be cautious about posting and sharing personal information, especially information that could be used to identify you or locate you offline, such as your address or telephone number.
• Report users and content that violate our terms of use, or are likely to cause you or others offence.
• Report anyone that sends you unwanted or inappropriate communications.

User Disputes

You are solely responsible for your interactions with other Technowatch users. We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to monitor disputes between you and other users unless a specific complaint is made against a registered user, through the approved methods detailed in this document

Termination

We may terminate your membership of the site, delete your profile and any content or information that you have posted on the site and/or prohibit you from using or accessing the site (or any portion, aspect or feature of the site) for any reason, or no reason, at any time at our sole discretion, with or without notice, including if we believe that you are under the age of 14 or are aged between 14 and 16 years of age and do not have parental permission to use the site, and/or that we have received complaints of inappropriate behaviour on this site, and/or when representing Guide Dogs outside of the Technowatch.

Submissions

You acknowledge and agree that any questions, comments, suggestions, ideas, feedback or other information about the site ("Submissions"), provided by you to us are non-confidential and shall become our sole property. We shall own exclusive rights, including all intellectual property rights, and shall be entitled to the unrestricted use and dissemination of these Submissions for any purpose without acknowledgment or compensation to you.

Other

These Terms of Use, and the other conditions listed on the Technowatch, constitute an agreement between you and us regarding the use of the site, superseding any prior agreements between you and us relating to your use of the site. Our failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms of Use shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision in that or any other instance. If any provision of these Terms of Use is held invalid, the remainder of these Terms of Use shall continue in full force and effect. If any provision of these Terms of Use shall be deemed unlawful, void or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from these Terms of Use and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.

Limitation of liability

In no event will Guide Dogs be liable for any damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, those resulting from lost profits, lost data or business interruption) arising out of the use, inability to use, or the results of use of this site, any web sites linked to this site, or the materials or information contained at any or all such sites.

Use of site

Guide Dogs authorises you to view and download the materials at this site only for your personal, non-commercial use.

Links to other web sites

Links to third party web sites on this site are provided solely as a convenience to you. If you use these links, you will leave this site. We have not reviewed  these third party sites and do not control and are not responsible for any of these sites or their content. Thus, we do not endorse or make any representations about them, or any information, software or other products or materials found there, or any results that may be obtained from using them. If you decide to access any of the third party sites linked to this site, you do this entirely at your own risk. We do not pass on any personal information about you to any other site when you link to another site.

Changes to these terms

Guide Dogs may revise these terms at any time by updating this posting. You should visit this page from time to time to review the then-current terms because they are binding on you. Certain provisions of these terms may be superseded by expressly designated legal notices or terms located on particular pages at this site.

Right to remove or change entries

Guide Dogs reserves the right in its absolute discretion to remove or make changes to any entry at any time and without notice. Guide Dogs shall not be under any obligation to provide reasons for removal and make no commitment to update the materials at this site.
