Superheroes in the making
This July, six legs set out on a great adventure: an adventure with a very important goal. Phil and his nine month old yellow Labrador, Zeus, are walking the White Rose Way and aim to raise an incredible £2,000 for Guide Dogs.
“Hello, my name is Phil and my dog is called Zeus, a 9 month old yellow Labrador.
Many years ago I took part in various fundraising events to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind, although I have no direct family members who are blind or benefited from a guide dog, I have always had a close affection for these wonderful dogs, probably due to my general love of dogs.
I recently thought about fundraising for Guide Dogs again and thought long and hard about how I could do something different; after some research I decided to undertake the White Rose Way walk, a 104 mile walk from Leeds centre to Scarborough’s North Harbour. Zeus and I will start the walk at 10:00am on 24th July 2016 and have allowed ourselves 5 days to complete the full walk, we will be camping along the way and hopefully some dog friendly bed and breakfasts (if available). My target is to raise £2,000 for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
We will be completing the 5 days event as follows;
Day 1: Leeds Centre to Wetherby – 19.6 mile
Day 2: Wetherby to Fulford – 19.2 mile
Day 3: Fulford to Malton – 28.7 mile
Day 4: Malton to Harwood Dale – 25.9 mile
Day 5: Harwood Dale to Scarborough – 11.0 mile
Total – 104 miles
The walk starts at the Black Prince in Leeds City Square at 10.00am on 24th July 2016.
We would be delighted if anyone would like to join us along the way….. come cheer us on or even walk with us for just the odd mile or so, better still, why not join us on the full walk?
All funds raised will be donated to Guide Dogs for the Blind with not a single penny taken out to cover any expenses.”
You can support this great adventure by joining Phil and Zeus along the way – or help them hit their fundraising target by donating to their Just Giving page.
