5 Fun Ways to Keep Your Dog Fit in 2017
Many of us have made getting fit and healthy our new year’s resolution, but it’s also a great time to think about your dog’s health.
We’ve come up with five tips to try to keep your dog fit and healthy this year!
5. Food glorious food!
Keeping an eye on what your dog is eating is one of the easiest ways to keep them ready and raring to go. It’s easy to let the puppy dog eyes win, but it’s incredible just how quickly the canine calories can add up!
4. Fast and Furry-ous
Teaching your dog an activity such as agility or Flyball is not only a great way of keeping your dog fit and lean, but it’s also a fantastic way of exercising their minds too: keeping more energetic breeds well exercised, but well socialised too!
3. Brain Training
Keeping your dog mentally stimulated can seem like a ceaseless task sometimes, but exercising your dog’s brain is so important to keeping them happy and healthy. Practising their basic training can not only keep them stimulated, but can re-inforce that you’re the boss.
2. Splish Splash Splosh!
Swimming is a great form of exercise, particularly for more mature dogs – if your dog loves water you might even find it hard to stop them swimming… Just remember to pack plenty of old towels and prepare to get wet; everyone knows that the most affectionate dog is a wet dog!

Of course we can’t forget the simplest and purest form of fitness fun: the dog walk. Another great, low impact, form of exercise for both you and your dog, walking really is as simple as one foot in front of the other.
