We’re rebuilding your local Guide Dog Training School!
Guide Dogs has been training dogs in the north of England for 77 years. Over that time, streets and town centres have become very busy and complex, and training methods have advanced to help our dogs meet the challenge. Our current school no longer meets our needs – so we’re building a new one!
In early summer 2009 we’ll open our brand new Guide Dog Training School in Atherton – and you can be a part of it by raising funds to go towards kitting it out.
The modern, purpose-built school will enable us to train an increased number of first-rate happy, healthy, guide dogs, to help more blind and partially-sighted people get around independently.
The school is designed with the wellbeing and development of the young dogs in mind, with state of the art care and welfare facilities, and outstanding training areas.
The new school will help us provide life-changing partnerships! Why don't you see how we've been getting on? We will be updating this page with the progress of the build and the progress of the appeal.
We don’t need you to lay bricks, drill post holes or man the cement mixer – we’d like you to help us kit out the school by raising funds or making a donation! However large or small the amount, it will make a real difference to the care and training of guide dogs by helping us buy what we need to create a world-class facility.
Kelly and Holly

- Kelly - guide dog owner"Holly is my best friend, my confidence, and my freedom. With her I have the confidence to go to places I have never visited before, to go out at night, and to look to the future without worrying. I have the chance to study...thanks to Holly the prospect no longer daunts me."

We need your help
Your support is very important to us and will make a difference to generations of guide dogs trained at our new school.
To support this amazing new facility, we are planning a 'paws of support' pathway and we would like to give you the opportunity to be part of our new school by donating a specially inscribed brick.
