Online fundraising hints and tips

For more ideas to promote your online giving page, check out the Justgiving Community blog or see some of our ideas below.
The more you tell people about your page, the more donations you’ll attract…
- Email a link to your fundraising page to everyone in your address book, and ask them to forward it on to everyone they know too!
- Track your fundraising progress on your Facebook profile by using Justgiving’s Facebook application or Virgin Money Giving's Facbook application
- Put a widget and ‘sponsor me’ button on your blog, website and social profiles like Facebook, MySpace or Bebo. Find them by clicking ‘promote this page’ on the right of your fundraising page
- Add progress updates and photos to your blog, website or social profile, or by using photo and video websites like You Tube or Flickr
- Let Justgiving know how your fundraising is going so they can share your news and fundraising ideas with our other fundraisers. Justgiving may even profile you on their homepage – just email your details and a brief description of the event to suggestions@justgiving.com
If you need any help or advice with your fundraising or setting up an online fundraising page, please contact the Events Team on 0845 600 6787.
More useful hints
- Use a picture of yourself, or one of our images rather than a standard image - the more you can connect your sponsors with you and your charity, the more you will get sponsored!
- Tell your sponsors a bit more about Guide Dogs, here's some suggestions for you to copy and paste onto your Justgiving page
- Link your page to a video feed of you in training, or actually doing the event - you'll not only inspire more donations, but your sponsors will also believe you when you say that you've done it!
- Update your sponsors regularly, using the 'See who's donated' area found after you've logged into 'Your Account'
- Find out more about the work that we do, and read more of our case studies to get a better understanding of the charity
