Top fundraising tips

Thank you for choosing to fundraise for Guide Dogs.  Here are some tips to help you to put the 'fun' into fundraising!  If you need support or advice on any of these ideas please call the Events Team on 0845 600 6787 or email events@guidedogs.org.uk.

All day event
This could be a sponsored event such as darts, aerobics or bridge - just find the location and invite your guests.

Auction or raffle
An auction can be an event in itself - all you need is the support of local companies to provide you with prizes to auction off.

Bring and buy or car boot sale
Turn your trash into cash! Why not have a clear out of your cupboards, loft or garage and sell unwanted items at a local sale.

Car wash
Great if you could get a local group involved to help out, or offer to wash colleague's cars during your lunch break!

Cheese and wine
A really simple way to raise money whilst socialising with friends or neighbours.

Dinner dance
Enjoy a meal, a band and a great knees up in aid of Guide Dogs!  Combine this with an auction on the night - just ask everyone to bring their chequebook!

Expert talk
We can arrange for a local guide dog speaker to provide a talk for you, and you could ask for donations from guests.

Fancy dress theme
Hold a dress down day at work or school and ask others to do dress to the same theme.

Garden party
Open your garden (or a friend's!) to the public for the day.

Karaoke evening
Link it with the Eurovision song contest or a quiz night at your local pup - a great way to liven up any party!

Lunchtime picnic
Held at work, with a group of friends or a social club.  Why not make the picnic a theme where every guest brings food which originates from a different country.

Masked Ball
Go all out and organise a gala evening ball, ask everyone to wear a mask and award a prize for the best.

Pub quiz
Make money at your event and have fun with a bit of friendly competition.  You could also hold a darts or pool competition too.

Sponsored event
Anything from a sponsored silence, singing, dancing or giving up a vice for a day - you can always ask people to sponsor you to do something ridiculous!

Treasure hunt
Why not get into teams to uncover the clues?  You could also hold an Easter Egg hunt in Spring, a spooky Halloween trick or treat hunt in Autumn or a Christmas themed hunt in Winter.
