Join us – become a member of Guide Dogs!

People who care about Guide Dogs demonstrate their goodwill in myriad different ways. Thousands organise fundraising activities or give their time and energy as volunteers; others leave a lasting legacy by including Guide Dogs in their will. Those who wish to have a say in what we do and how we do it, however, can become members.

As well as being registered as a charity, Guide Dogs is also, like many other charities, registered as a company limited by guarantee. Unlike private companies, which have shareholders, companies limited by guarantee have members. The guarantee is that in the event of a shortfall in the charity’s funds, each member will make a contribution to the assets. This amount is currently just £1. In return, members are entitled to speak and vote at our AGM.

Membership is open to everyone who supports our Vision and Mission – except current employees – and applications are subject to approval by Council, Guide Dogs’ governing body. There are two classes of membership: “ordinary” and “life”. The only difference between the two is the membership fee: £20 per year for ordinary membership or a one-off payment of £500 for life membership.

If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact our Membership Administrator for an application form in your preferred format.

You can contact them by telephone on 0118 983 5555, by email at guidedogs@guidedogs.org.uk or by post at Guide Dogs, Hillfields, Burghfield Common, Reading RG7 3YG. Alternatively, you can print off a form:
