Access for dogs and owners

Our Access for All campaign aims to ensure that guide dog owners receive the same treatment as everyone else.  We educate service providers on their responsibilities, lobby for changes to law, and make sure that guide dog owners know their rights.

Open your doors

Open Your Doors is our umbrella campaign covering the need for better access amongst all service providers – including shops, hotels, pubs, restaurants, banks and building societies. We outline the legal obligations and give practical tips on how to provide a quality service for blind and partially-sighted people. More on Open Your Doors

Mini cabs

Thanks to our campaigning, it’s now illegal for drivers of private hire vehicles (or minicabs) to refuse to carry guide dog owners just because they are accompanied by their dogs. Make sure you know the law for taxis.

Restaurants and pubs

The New Equality Act 2010 makes it illegal for service providers to refuse a guide dog owner because of their dog – but not all restaurateurs and publicans are aware of this. To help, we provide a freephone hotline that explains the legal obligations; a guide dog owners’ access card; Guide Dogs Welcome stickers and helpful fact sheets.
