Guide Dog Week 2010

The countdown has begun to Guide Dog Week 2010!

This year we are celebrating the life-changing work of Guide Dogs under the theme of “Extraordinary Partnerships”.

To whet your appetite ahead of the biggest week (2^nd – 10^th October) in the Guide Dogs calendar, Guide Dogs staff, supporters, volunteers and guide dog owners have been busy snapping photos that fit with the week’s theme.

Their brilliant efforts will all be displayed on our Guide Dog Week 2010 Flickr page.

If you’d like to submit a photo simply email it as a high-resolution jpeg (between 1MB and 2MB) to guidedogweek@guidedogs.org.uk. If you tell us your name and why you think it depicts an “Extraordinary Partnership” we can tag the photo with that information to share with everyone else.

Hopefully their photographic talents will inspire you to start thinking about how you can get involved.

If you are interested in how you can help us create more ‘Extraordinary Partnerships’ then look no further - there are lots of ways you can ‘Give for Guide Dogs’! If you’re feeling energetic why not organise a go walkies sponsored walk or if the weather is looking a bit suspect hold your own Get together event.

Or you could volunteer with your local branch for a street collection – a fantastic way to meet new people and help Guide Dogs at the same time. Contact the National Volunteering Office for a range of opportunities to get involved with us.

Whatever you do, you’ll be helping ensure Guide Dogs continues to create 3 life-changing guide dog partnerships every working day. Each of these partnerships involves around 20 months of training, seven years of support and costs almost £50,000
