How do I register for an event?

You can sign up on our website for a variety of events. If you’re applying for a Guide Dogs place, you’ll need to complete a short application form and pay a registration fee which you can pay online using a credit or debit card. You can also pay by phone or by cheque, please call the Events Team on 0345 143 0200 for more information. If you’ve already arranged your own place in an event, you can still register online to join Team Guide Dogs. As you’ve already paid your registration fee, you’ll just need to complete a very short form.

What if the event I want to take part in isn’t listed?

If your event is not listed on our website, don’t worry you can still take part in the event and raise funds for Guide Dogs.

Simply register directly with the organisers of the event and then contact our Events team or call 0345 143 0200 to raise money for Guide Dogs.

I am experiencing technical difficulties, the website won’t accept my event registration

If you are experiencing technical difficulties with our website, please contact our Events team or call 0345 143 0200.

Please provide us with your full name, email address, the event you are trying to register in and the problems you are experiencing. This will help us resolve any issues as quickly as possible and to get you registered in your chosen event!

Do your events have any age restrictions?

All challenge events carry a minimum age limit which you must be by the date of the event. Some events allow you to take part with a parent or guardian if you are below this. For marathons the minimum age is 18. There’s no upper-age limit, although some events will need you to get your doctor's approval before taking part.

What is Gift Aid?

To increase your donation at no extra cost you can add Gift Aid. Gift Aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways of giving to charity. Introduced by the Inland Revenue, Gift Aid allows charities to claim 25p for every £1 donated from a UK tax payer, to reclaim what they already paid in tax.

That means that a £100 donation, will be £125 with Gift Aid. Please encourage your sponsors to tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsor form if they’d like us to claim Gift Aid. For more information, please visit our Gift Aid page.

Why is there a minimum fundraising target on your events?

Sadly, we are not given our places for free so we set a minimum target to ensure that in giving someone a place, we get a good return for our expenditure.  Our places in events are worth a lot to us and it is essential that you’re committed to raising the minimum amount, so we can continue our vital work transforming the lives of blind and partially sighted people.

Can I raise money online?

Yes. We’re proud to be associated with JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving – the two largest online giving websites which allow you to set up your own donation page. All the funds you raise online will go directly to your event fundraising. There’s no sponsor forms to fill out, no chasing money, and the funds come straight into our bank account so we can invest them straight into our work.

What if I become unwell on event day?

Your health and safety is paramount. You should only participate if you feel well. If in doubt please consult your doctor. If you have met your fundraising commitment by the day of the race and are unable to take part through sickness we will happily defer your place. However, it is your responsibility to contact us to arrange this.

Before event day Guide Dogs recommend that you have a medical check-up before participating in an event and abide by any advice that might be given. If you know you wont be able to take part before the day of the Event, please let us know as we might be able to pass your place onto another supporter. Please let us know as soon as you think you wont be able to take part in the event.

I have raised money for Guide Dogs, and would like to pay it in. How can I do this?

Thank you so much for your fundraising; we truly appreciate all of your efforts! There are a few options available for sending us your fundraising, just choose which ever suits you best!

Call us from 9 – 5 Monday to Friday on 0345 143 0200 and make payment with a credit or debit card.
Please send completed sponsor forms and cheques made payable to Guide Dogs to the below address. Don’t forget to ask your sponsors to complete the Gift Aid section:
