For Lay Executors

Administering an estate may seem quite daunting, and Guide Dogs would like to offer support and advice to help make that job a little easier. If you’d like information on anything not covered here, please feel free to get in touch with us.

I’m administering an estate which includes a legacy to Guide Dogs. To whom should I make the cheque payable, and where should I send the proceeds?

Please make the cheque payable either to 'Guide Dogs' or 'The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association', and send it to our Central Office:

I want to understand how you’ll use the gift. How can I find out more?

There’s lots of information on this site about how gifts in Wills are used and the life-changing impact they have – just take a look at our Inspiring Stories. We can also send you a copy of our Life Changers booklet and DVD, which will help to bring the gift to life. We’d also be delighted to welcome you along to one of our Reception Days or we can arrange for you to visit one of our Training Schools, to see how the gift is being used.

Can my loved one’s gift be used to name a puppy?

Yes, this is a popular way for people to commemorate their loved one, knowing that their gift is helping to create a life-changing guide dog for a blind or partially sighted person.

Our Name a Puppy sponsorship starts at £5,000, so please get in touch with us so we can discuss what would best suit you and your family. We ask for three suggested puppy names and we’ll try to use your first preference where possible.
