Guide Dogs proud to win silver CIPR PRide Award

The CIPR PRide Awards is the only awards scheme which showcases the best PR work being carried out across the UK regions and nations and sets industry standards.  Judging for the CIPR Pride Awards is rigorous, with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners.

Guide Dogs teamed up with BBC Breakfast for the Guide Dog of the Year Awards 2007 in order to bring the inspirational stories behind some of the most amazing guide dog partnerships in the UK to millions of viewers.

Launched live on BBC Breakfast to the nation in Spring 2007, the Guide Dog of the Year Awards captivated viewers who nominated guide dogs from all over the country, via the Guide Dogs website.

The successful collaboration saw the number of nominations for the Guide Dog of the Year Awards increase 10 fold!

BBC Breakfast viewers were then given the opportunity to vote, via the Guide Dogs website, for which guide dogs they wanted to be crowned Overall Champion.

The Overall Champion Guide Dog of the Year, Roz, was crowned at a special ceremony at The Kennel Club in London, hosted by Peter Purves and Clare Balding.

Says Guide Dogs’ media manager, Nikki Wright:  “We are thrilled to win the CIPR PRide Award for our Guide Dog of the Year Awards collaboration with BBC Breakfast.

“The campaign resulted in many thousands more people being aware of the amazing and life-transforming work of guide dogs in providing independence, confidence and freedom of mobility to their blind or partially sighted owners.”

Paul Davison, Chair of CIPR Thames and Chiltern, said: “To win a CIPR PRide Award is a tremendous achievement.  This year’s winners really do have something to shout about, having faced the highest number of entries and stiffest competition ever.  A CIPR PRide Award is a hallmark of professionalism and success; marking the best in our profession stand out from the crowd.”
