Bolton to host Ball for Guide Dogs
Bolton is to host a major fundraising Ball for local charity Guide Dogs on the evening of Saturday, 26 September.
Taking place at Brookfield Hall, Peel Street, Westhoughton, tickets for the black-tie ‘bash’ cost £25 and should be purchased in advance.
Bookings are on a first come – first served basis, by phoning 07806 325384 or emailing margarethardman@talktalk.net
The event includes a raffle, auction and dinner dance, with all profits donated to The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
Organiser Margaret Hardman explains: “Guide Dogs has committed to services for blind and partially-sighted in the North West, recently opening a new state-of-the-art dog training school in nearby Atherton.
“With Guide Dogs being a major local employer and a life-changer in terms of guide dogs trained for blind and partially sighted people in Greater Manchester and Lancashire – we hope there’ll be lots of support for the Bolton Ball.”
It costs £2,200 to breed a guide dog puppy, whist the lifetime cost of a guide dog, from birth to retirement, is £49,800. There are around 4,500 guide dog partnerships in the UK.
