Children get crafty to win VIP trip at Guide Dogs Fun Day!
Children are being encouraged to get crafty ahead of the Guide Dogs Fun Day to win a VIP meeting with some guide dog puppies.
All youngsters have to do is create a drawing or painting on the theme of “Puppy Power” and take it to the Guide Dogs Fun Day at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire on Saturday July 10.
Entries will be divided into three age groups (0 to six inclusive, 7 to 11 inclusive and 12 plus), with one overall winner being chosen to visit the Guide Dogs breeding centre in Bishops Tachbrook, Leamington Spa.
As well as taking part in the competition, the children, like all the visitors to the Guide Dogs Fun Day will experience a wonderful day out.
Amazing displays already signed up include the South Staffordshire Dog Display Team and the Ridgewood Falconry display.
There is also a children’s entertainment area, fresh food and picnic field, colourful market stalls and an opportunity for visitors to meet some of the guide dogs in training who will be partnered with blind and partially sighted adults and children later this year.
The event is being opened by the Red Arrows performing a formation flyover at 10.15am.
They will join many more acts at the fun day from 10am to 5pm, with the competition winners being announced at 4pm.
Jackie Potter, Guide Dogs Fun Day Manager, said: “Guide Dogs Fun Day is a wonderful chance for us to celebrate the 4,500 guide dog partnerships and for members of the public to learn more about Guide Dogs while having a great day out.
“There will be plenty to see and do, so make sure you take this opportunity to help us have a Guide Dogs Fun Day to remember.”
Guide Dogs Fun Day, previously called The Guide Dogs Experience, has been held in Warwickshire since the event began in 2006.
It is an action-packed celebration of the UK’s 4,500 guide dog partnerships and the life-changing mobility they provide.
Now the day attracts more than 12,000 people who will go on a journey through the care and training of a guide dog, learn about the extraordinary relationship between a guide dog and its owner, and what makes that partnership possible.
They may also be able to take a blindfold walk with a guide dog, experiencing for a few moments that life-changing mobility.
