‘go walkies’ for Guide Dogs at Paw Trek – Longleat
Longleat Estate is to host its biggest ever dog walk in aid of Guide Dogs. Pattering paws will ‘go walkies’ in the stunning grounds, near Warminster, on Sunday, 9 May.
Known as ‘go walkies’ for Guide Dogs at Paw Trek – Longleat; it will be officially opened by the Marquess of Bath at 11:00am. Thousands of people – with or without pets and pooches – will then get into their stride, raising money for Guide Dogs during a two miles sponsored walk.
As well as the scenic sponsored walk, other attractions will include:
- Opportunities to meet some real guide dogs and trainee puppies
- Dog agility demonstrations
- Craft stalls
- Trade stands
- Treasure map
- Children’s entertainment
There will be an engraved trophy awarded for the highest sponsorship prize, and paw trekkers are invited to dress up as a puppy or favourite breed of dog, adding to the canine flavour of the day.
Entrance to Longleat grounds is free to all those taking part in the walk and fundraising for Guide Dogs (plus up to three additional friends and family). For a sponsorship form and further details about the event, please visit www.gowalkies.org.uk, phone 0845 372 7345 or email LeamingtonAdmin@guidedogs.org.uk

It costs £10 a day to breed, train and support each of the 4,500 guide dogs currently working in the UK. The charity receives no government funding for the guide dog service and relies on voluntary donations, so everyone taking part can make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people.
Stuart Waters, from Guide Dogs’ South West fundraising team explains:
“The ’go walkies’ Paw Trek is one of the biggest mass participation events in the South West, and it’s only the start.
“We hope everyone will continue to go walkies after Longleat. It could be a stroll almost anywhere – from a walk in the park to a meander along a riverbank! It’s a really fantastic way for dog lovers – and their four-legged friends – to have fun, stay fit, raise money and make a big difference to our vital work.”
