Plymouth residents on the run for Guide Dogs
Keith Weeks from Devonport and Tracy Martin from St Budeaux are putting on their running shoes, taking part in the Plymouth Half Marathon and raising money for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association on Sunday, 30 May.
The duo will run 13.5 miles, following months of training and preparation. The money raised will help the charity to continue providing guide dogs to blind and partially sighted people, giving them life-changing freedom, mobility and independence.
Keith commented on why they decided to take on the challenge and raise money for Guide Dogs:
“We wanted to make a difference, to support a charity which quite literally transforms lives. Guide Dogs seemed the perfect fit, restoring the independence of people with sight loss is something special. We’re also supporting the 1st Keyham Scout Group
It costs £10 a day to breed, train and support each guide dog partnership and as the charity relies on voluntary donations to fund its services, every penny raised will make a huge difference to blind and partially sighted people.
Further information on all the charity’s events is available by calling the Guide Dogs’ Events Team on 0845 600 6787 or visiting www.guidedogs.org.uk/events
