The time of year to help those near - The star showcase for ITV Text Santa is revealed

12 Dec 2014

On 19 December starting at 8.00pm a galaxy of stars line up to entertain viewers for this year’s ITV Text Santa telethon, of which Guide Dogs are a beneficiary.

A glittering bill for the live three hour studio entertainment show features presenters Ant & Dec, Phillip Schofield & Christine Bleakley, Alesha Dixon & Paddy McGuinness, and stars such as Carey Mulligan, Brenda Blethyn, Simon Cowell and the cast of Coronation Street.

Other highlights include special Text Santa editions of Saturday Night Takeaway, Birds of a Feather, The Cube and I’m A Celebrity, a special celebrity choir of ex-jungle contestants.

Throughout the evening the amazing work of the six charities, supported by Text Santa 2014, are highlighted by well-known faces including Carey Mulligan, Brenda Blethyn, Ant & Dec, Simon Cowell and Holly Willoughby – involving the viewers with the essential services these charities provide.

December 19th will also be Text Santa Take-Over Day on ITV, featuring special episodes of Jeremy Kyle, Let’s Do Christmas with Gino and Mel, Tipping Point with the presenters of Good Morning Britain, The Chase and Peter Andre’s 60 Minute Makeover, all getting involved to support the Text Santa charities.

Jayne George, Director of Fundraising & Marketing at Guide Dogs, said: “Almost two million people live with sight loss in the UK and there will be many more in the future. We want everyone who experiences sight loss to have the freedom to live life the way they choose. This special Text Santa line-up will keep viewers thoroughly entertained while telling them about Guide Dogs life changing work.”

It's the time of year to help those near and in a packed three hour, star-studded evening, viewers will be treated to comedy, music and special episodes of ITV shows interspersed with moving films, highlighting why stars are combining to raise funds for six UK-based charities.

The Text Santa appeal has raised £15 million for charities since it started in 2011.  All funds raised for Text Santa will be distributed equally between Teenage Cancer Trust, Guide Dogs, WellChild, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Alzheimer’s Society and Together for Short Lives.
