Super soap star guide dogs

Guide dogs have been taking Annie Giles-Quinn and her guide dog Mr Quin on Coronation Streetcentre stage in some of Britain's best loved TV programmes over the past few weeks. ITV's Coronation Street and Birds of a Feather both featured guide dog owners and their dogs.

Fans of the Coronation Street cobbles would have seen Manchester Mobility Team's superstar fundraiser and speaker Annie Giles-Quinn and her guide dog Mr Quin appear on the soap. Annie became a regular extra on the programme after Granada Studios requested a Guide Dogs collection box.

Annie said: "Mr Quin changed my life. He gave me back my independence. Being on Coronation Street is like a dream come true and I’m delighted to share it with him."

Two guide dog owners featured in an episode of the comedy classic Birds of a Feather broadcast on 6 February 2014. Actor and guide dog owner Margo Cargill played Angie, the new love of Chris, the estranged husband of one of the main characters, Sharon. Margo and her guide dog Paris were the focus of the episode with the first close up shot of Paris' gorgeous face creating a lovely 'aw' moment from the audience.

Also in the same episode, guide dog owner James O'Driscoll charmed the infamous flirt Dorian with his good looks and physique (James is a personal trainer) at Chris and Angie's engagement party, providing several laugh out loud moments.

We hope all our aspiring actors and actresses will be making more appearances on our screens in the future. If you know or are a guide dog owner with any kind of role on screen, do let us know so we can shout about it.
