Mark and Claire get married

24 Mar 2014

Two guide dog owners have tiedClaire and Mark at their wedding with their guide dogs the knot after their dogs fell head over paws in love during training.

Claire Johnson and Mark Gaffey got married in Baralston, Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday, two years after their guide dogs Venice and Rodd became besotted with each other during training.

Claire said: "Our dogs were the class love story. Everyone used to joke about how Mark's dog Rodd and my dog Venice were meant to be together."

With the independence their guide dogs gave them and only 1.5 miles separating the couple, dates became more and more frequent and eventually the foursome became inseparable. Mark popped the question on Valentine's Day 2013.

On Saturday, Venice and Rodd took the happy couple through the service and even acted as ring-bearers.

Claire said: "I have no doubt that our guide dogs brought us together and helped me find my true love. Much like our two guide dogs, we really are best friends and soul mates."

Everyone at Guide Dogs is delighted for Mark and Claire and wishes them every happiness for the future.
