Text Santa and change a life

28 May 2014

Guide Dogs is to benefit from ITV's annual fundraising appeal, Text Santa, which will return in December 2014 to raise money and awareness for six UK charities.

The appeal has raised £15 million for charities since it started in 2011. Ant & Dec, Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Christine Bleakley and Paddy McGuinness hosted the 2013 live show, which was broadcast on 20 December and watched by a peak audience of 6.1 million people.

Jayne George, Director of Fundraising and Marketing for Guide Dogs, said: "We are absolutely bowled over and extremely honoured to have been chosen as one of the six charities to benefit from the Text Santa campaign this year. As we're reaching out to more and more people with sight loss, Guide Dogs need all the help we can get and this will make such an enormous difference. Christmas seems a long way away right now but it'll be here before we know it. When the time comes we’ll be asking everyone to dig deep, give a big festive cheer for text Santa and in turn help support Guide Dogs."

Other charities to benefit from the appeal will be the Alzheimer's Society, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Teenager Cancer Trust, Together for Short Lives and Wellchild.
