World Sight Day – 9 October 2014

09 Oct 2014

2014 World Sight Day logoGuide Dogs is supporting this year’s World Sight Day, taking place on 9 October 2014.

Approximately 285 million people worldwide live with low vision and blindness. It's estimated that 90% of blind people live in low-income countries, yet 80% of blindness is preventable or avoidable with treatment.

This year the theme for the day is 'No more avoidable blindness' and events happening around the UK for Guide Dogs Week will increase public awareness of blindness and vision impairment as major public health issues.
