The Government agrees that buses should do the talking

10 Oct 2016

All buses in Great Britain could become talking buses, following a Government amendment to the Bus Service Bill.

Gda 0103This change gives the Transport Secretary the power to require all buses to be fitted with audio-visual technology, that provides next stop and final destination information. This vital technology means that people living with sight loss could use buses with greater independence and confidence in the future.

Guide Dogs has been campaigning for this change since the start of the decade. Recently, the charity took the campaign to the Conservative Party Conference, where its Campaigns team met Transport Secretary Chris Grayling MP and Bus Minister Andrew Jones MP.
