Award to Brighton shared street condemned by Guide Dogs
Guide Dogs say shared surface streets – when roads and pavements are built at the same level with little or no divide between areas for vehicles and pedestrians – put blind and partially sighted people at serious risk, because they make insufficient distinction between the roads and the footpaths, possibly leading to accidents and creating “no-go” areas for those pedestrians.
