December was a jam packed and an important month for Iggy!

Guide Dogs Awards 128Earlier in the month she met the Mayor of Wigan, Councillor Susan Loudon, who's chosen charity for 2015-16 is Guide Dogs. Susan says, "The reason I chose this particular charity is because my sister Joan, the Mayoress, is partially sighted and has Russell, a trained guide dog, to help her lead a full and active life." Thank you for choosing us Susan- we really enjoyed meeting you here at Atherton Training Centre.

Iggy had the pleasure of attending the fantastic 2015 Guide Dogs awards. Iggy accompanied Blue Peter's Lindsay Russell onto the stage to present an award to the wonderful Elaine Mackenzie who was named this year's Inspirational Guide Dog Owner. Iggy seemed to enjoy her train ride and London taxi travels in the big smoke- she was so relaxed she slept the whole way!

The following day, we headed back up North to Media City to get into the festive spirit for the Blue Peter Christmas Special where she met a Salvation Army Brass Band playing Christmas carols and got a lovely present from the presenters- thanks Barney, Lindsay and Radzi!

It was a proud moment for Trainer Cath and us all here at Atherton, as Iggy moved  on to her next stage of training. Iggy will complete her advanced training in Leeds with Guide Dog Mobility Instructor Tracy Walker, where she will be amongst her old friends Lola the Labrador and Domino the Labradoodle - we will miss you Iggy!

She has been doing so well with her training and made fantastic progress whilst here at Atherton- we all wish her lots of luck in her next chapter and the next steps to
