Getting active for Guide Dogs Week
A lot of people are cycling their way through Guide Dogs Week – though some of them won’t be moving very far!
We know of at least two teams who are doing static bike rides. In Exeter City Centre, the team will be getting nowhere fast, cycling 80 kilometres between them. And in Leamington, they’ll be doing the same – dressed in their best 80s outfits.
Meanwhile, in Redbridge, Guide Dog Trainer Tim Atkinson and Regional Employment Development Officer Frank Taylor are cycling twice round Rutland Water. That’s also a distance 80 kilometres and you can support them by visiting www.justgiving.com/Frank-Taylor2.
Some of us are happier in the water than on two wheels, like staff in the Information Services Programme Team who’ve decided to do a sponsored swim. Three team members will be swimming 80 laps each, while their colleagues will be keeping track of the number of laps they do and shouting encouragement from the poolside.
There are going to be a lot of fit people at Guide Dogs after this week – please keep us posted on your activities – though they don’t have to be this energetic!

The Exeter team aimed to cycle 80 km on a static bike on Saturday 1st October for guide dog week. The event went extremely well despite the heat and we managed 80 miles instead, helping to raise over 2000 pounds. GO TEAM EXETER!
