Guide Dogs launches new website for schools
01 Mar 2013
Guide Dogs has launched a new website of interactive resources for schools.
Puppy Resources for Primary Schools is targeted at 4-11-year-olds and contains fun, interactive resources, lesson plans and activity sheets encouraging children to learn all about Guide Dogs.
The modules include how a guide dog can change a life, how other people see the world and how to help blind and partially sighted people in their community. The resources can be used on interactive whiteboards or a computer in the classroom or at home from a PC.
Guide Dogs’ Schools and Youth Engagement Manager Claire Mulford said: “This is a fantastic way for young children to learn about Guide Dogs and we’re sure teachers will enjoy using these resources as part of their lessons. These activities can also be used outside school in youth groups like Cubs or Brownies and there’s no need to register. Guide Dogs is lucky to be supported by children in hundreds of schools up and down the country and this is a great way of engaging with them.”
The resources on the website complement the fundraising support Guide Dogs receives from schools through Sponsor a Puppy @ School, Name a Puppy @ School and Go Walkies @ School schemes.
