Guide Dogs – the way ahead

Over the last 12 months Guide Dogs’ directors and trustees have been discussing the direction the organisation should take from 2010 to 2020. During the course of this year, Guide Dogs will be looking in detail at how best the organisation can continue to play its part in enabling blind and partially-sighted people to live the lives they have a right to expect.

The charity will always provide guide dogs, of course, as well as undertaking other priority activities which enable blind and partially-sighted people to get about and improve their quality of life. These include helping to ensure that buildings transport and streets are accessible, dealing with discrimination, and supporting people to increase their confidence in getting about without sighted assistance.

Representatives of key groups of people will be asked for their opinions on the organisation’s future priorities and goals.

This consultation reflects Guide Dogs’ recognition of the commitment of its clients, supporters, volunteers and staff, which has been the foundation of all the organisation has achieved over the years.
