Newfoundland rescue mission for Guide Dogs fundraising

Fundraising with a splash, in aid of Guide Dogs, is coming to Southampton –
participants will be rescued from the Solent by 14-stone Newfoundland dogs on Saturday, 12 September, 11am-4pm.

Taking place at Hythe Marina, the Newfoundland rescue dogs will have paws at the ready as ‘volunteers’ throw themselves into the water, to experience the life-saving qualities of the giant , shaggy canines.

Guide Dogs’ district fundraiser Kirsty Necker says:  “Imagine the reassurance of knowing your rescuers are about to launch themselves through the air, saving you from the Solent.

“What a fantastic experience, to be brought ashore by Newfoundland rescue dogs.  We hope many local people will volunteer to take part, helping to raise £5,000 towards the training costs of a guide dog puppy.”

For further information, or to register, please phone 01926 333419 or email kirsty.necker@guidedogs.org.uk.

Newfound Friends, founded in 1990 to support charities with their displays and sponsored rescues, are supporting the event.
