Newport Transport backs Talking Buses
06 Dec 2012

Guide Dogs' Talking Buses campaign has chalked up another great success.
Newport Transport has become the first bus operator in Wales to commit to fitting all new buses with audio visual technology, which announces stops to help blind and partially sighted people and other passengers. The company launched launch five new buses fitted with AV technology this week.
Scott Pearson, Managing Director at Newport Transport said: "Our role as regional transport provider means making our services accessible to anyone who needs them, which naturally includes anyone with a visual or hearing impairment. We are very pleased to be able to say that we are contributing to making life that much easier for those who benefit from audio visual destination announcements and are looking forward to continuing this work."
Orders for more than 1,000 talking buses have been placed across Britain in 2012 but there is still a long way to go. Guide Dogs wants all buses to be talking buses in order to make bus travel easier for everyone. Help our campaign by emailing your MP using our simple online form and asking them to put pressure on the Bus Minister, Norman Baker MP, and on bus operators and transport officials where you live.
