Hardest Hit march - May 11

For as long as I can remember, May 11 has been a date not to forget, mainly because it's my mum's birthday, but this year it'll be even more memorable.
More than 10,000 people, including guide dog owners and other blind and partially sighted people, will march on Parliament to make themselves heard over the cuts threatening benefits, services, jobs and rights for disabled people.
The Hardest Hit march http://www.guidedogs.org.uk/news/the-hardest-hit-defending-disabled-peoples-futures/is being organised jointly by the Disability Benefits Consortium and UK Disabled People?s Council (UKDPC) and Guide Dogs is one of over 40 organisations supporting it. So what are we marching for?
We are challenging the welfare reforms laid out by the government, which will disproportionately affect disabled people and could push them further into poverty and isolation. We need politicians to understand the potential impact of these proposals and we are lobbying MPs to vote against them.
This is the first march I?ve been a part of with Guide Dogs and I have been impressed by the level of support people are offering. Many people have been asking me how they can get involved so I?ve been letting staff know how they can volunteer to help with stewarding on the day and making sure our wonderful campaigners know how to sign up for the Hardest Hit march.
There will of course be many people who would love to attend but aren?t able to do so. I?ve already had a number of emails from Guide Dogs supporters who can?t get to London but still want to show their support ? you can do this too by writing to your local MP.
Those people who are able to make it to London won?t just be representing their own concerns, but those of thousands of people who want to be there but can?t.
We have a duty to mobilise ourselves for what should be a positive day with a serious message for the Government.

Quasia and myself attended the march on may 11, everyone there was making a statement and hoping that their voice may be heard by parliament. Time will only tell how things pan out. Remember it not to late to let your MP what you think
