Save your Disability Living Allowance
£1 Billion threat to Disability Living Allowance
The Government has set out proposals to replace Disability Living Allowance with a new benefit - Personal Independent Payment (PIP). It plans to reform DLA from 2013, so that support is targeted at disabled people "who face the greatest challenges to leading independent lives." The aim of this change is also to save £1 billion, so in real terms that means cuts to benefits, meaning the most vulnerable people in society could be penalised and suffer.
We believe that any changes that are made must be made with the needs of blind and partially sighted people in mind, not the saving of £1 billion by the Treasury.
