Top tips for travelling with your dog in the car

Handy hints for car journeys and trips with your dog in the car

The Pet Travel Scheme

The Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) is run by the government and allows you to bring your dog back to the UK from abroad without entering quarantine. Before you travel, it’s wise to be aware of the conditions that you’ll need to fulfill and how your dog will be transported. More on the Pet Travel Scheme

Pets Passports

Your guide dog can only travel abroad on the Pet Travel Scheme if it has a passport.  There is also a new EU Pets Passport that replaces the old PETS 1 certificate you may have. More on getting a Pets Passport

International flights

Not all airlines or airports operate in the same way, so taking your dog on an international flight requires careful planning. Find out more on preparing for international flights. You can also visit the DEFRA website to check available routes under the PETS scheme or call the DEFRA helpline on 0870 241 1710.
