NFU Mutual – charity partner case study

NFU Mutual LogoIn December 2014, following a staff vote, NFU Mutual began a one year charity partnership with Guide Dogs. NFU Mutual’s aim was to raise £125,000 in 2015, funding the lifetime cost of a guide dog as well as the first year’s training of several guide dog puppies. NFU Mutual not only reached their target a month early, but, by the end of the year, they had exceeded it by a huge £20,000, raising a total of £145,000 for Guide Dogs!

NFU Mutual staff chose to name their guide dog puppy Henson, after James Henson, one of the seven Stratford farmers who founded the company in 1910. Henson (pictured right) is living happily with his puppy walkers who work closely with NFU Mutual and regularly attend their fundraising events.

Throughout 2015, NFU Mutual staff took part in a number of fundraising initiatives across their offices in the UK, in order to reach their target.

NFU Mutual’s fundraising got off to a flying start (literally) with some amazing events including 23 NFU Mutual employees completing a Skydive! In doing so, they raised £11,243 towards their total fundraising goal.

Additionally, 16 NFU Mutual teams signed up to take part in The Coniston Challenge in September 2015. A maximum of 60 teams can participate on the day, so NFU Mutual made up one quarter of the participants! Each team of six aimed to raise £2,000 and this activity alone brought in £35,244 of their overall target.

A corporate golf day was also organised at a very prestigious hotel in Stratford Upon Avon with NFU Mutual’s own Chief Executive Officer in attendance. The day was a huge success with NFU Mutual’s various suppliers taking to the golf course and then relaxing in the evening over a champagne reception and 3 course meal. With table sales and a raffle, the night raised almost £20,000!

Roadshow 4Now that 2015 is over, we are thrilled to announce that NFU Mutual have chosen to work with us for another year! There are already lots of events planned, the Skydive will be taking place again in June, and NFU Mutual has already entered 22 teams into the Coniston Challenge this year. Most exciting of all, NFU Mutual’s head office will be embarking on a Guinness World Record attempt in April for ‘the most amount of people dressed up as a dog in one place’. Watch this space and we will let you know how they get on!

We are truly grateful to NFU Mutual and their employees for all their hard work and enthusiasm which is already making a life changing difference to people with sight loss.

Thank you to all of NFU Mutual.
