Toyota - charity partner case study

Toyota Guidedogs

Following a staff nomination and Guide Dogs pitch, we were chosen as Toyota (GB) and Toyota Financial Services first ever charity partner in December 2016 (with the partnership starting in April 2017).

Guide Dogs Toyota LaunchWe are super excited to be partnered with Toyota (GB) as their work perfectly complements our vision of providing mobility and independence to all.

Toyota started the partnership with an aim to support a working guide dog partnership for 10,000 days over the course of a year – this was surpassed after the first six months.

Toyota Directors ChallengeToyota employees raised funds and awareness for Guide Dogs’ work with a range of events throughout 2017. The first being the Toyota Directors’ Challenge in April, when company directors walked and cycled the length of Hadrian’s Wall raising an amazing £60,000. This was followed by the Toyota Oaks Annual 250-mile bike ride to France in June.

Toyota Marathon WalkDuring Guide Dogs Week in October 2017, Toyota took part in an awareness building week with talks about Guide Dogs, My Guide and training of our dogs. Toyota housed a sensory tunnel for the week and staff took great interest in learning about different eye conditions using our simulation spectacles. The week ended with a team of around 30 staff members taking part in a local marathon walk.

A number of Toyota staff members have also volunteered for Guide Dogs, helping at events, assisting with a variety of projects and one member of staff has become a qualified My Guide volunteer.

With their fundraising, Toyota has named and funded the lifetime cost of a guide dog (Banjo) and named three other guide dogs, funding the first two years of training (Poppy, Elsie and Genchi).
