My Guide pilot scheme

Could your company help?

Sight loss can happen to anyone at any time. It’s a sad fact that 180,000 of those affected find it hard to leave home alone. Your company can help by providing the funding to train and link ‘sighted guides’ with isolated people who are blind and partially sighted.

We’re recruiting for partners now

Five pilot My Guide schemes have already launched. Another 35 more are in the pipeline by end 2011. Your organisation now has opportunity to become one of the first corporate partners for this pioneering new service.

What are we aiming to achieve?

We want to:

  • Reduce social isolation amongst people who are blind or partially sighted
  • Develop confidence
  • Encourage greater inclusion and independent mobility
  • Improve physical and mental well-being
  • Enable participation in a range of social and recreational activities
  • Provide measurable impacts on a national and local basis

What are the benefits to your company?

We offer you the opportunity to:

  • Train customer-facing staff in vision awareness and sighted guiding skills
  • Promote staff training and ‘visually impaired friendly’ branches to customers
  • Make staff feel proud of the company they work for
  • Support CSR reporting with local results and impacts
  • Engage staff with via team-building training sessions
  • Give your people further opportunities to volunteer as guides in the community
