Working with Guide Dogs to change lives - see how your major gift could transform the lives of people who are blind or partially sighted

By working with the Major Relationships Team and investing in Guide Dogs you could help us to reach significantly larger numbers of visually impaired people who need our support – both through our  trained dogs, and through other initiatives that enable those with sight loss to get out and about on their own terms.

Our Major Relationships Team will look forward to working closely with you. We will work with you to understand your interests and will help direct your gift to the area of our work that you feel most passionate about. You can feel confident in how your gift will be used and the enormous impact it will make to people living with sight loss.

Make an impact

Have you ever stumbled in the dark, relieved when your hand found the light switch and thankfully turned on the light so that you could see your way?  Can you imagine what it would be like to be born without, or to permanently lose your sight and never be able to do this? This is, however, the reality faced by many thousands of people who are blind or partially sighted and, sadly, this number is growing.

Sight loss is something that sighted people cannot begin to imagine and, unfortunately, every hour, another person in the UK goes blind.  At Guide Dogs, we are here to make sure that these people – adults and children alike – do not lose their independence and freedom too.

There are almost 2 million people in the UK are living with sight loss and sadly this number is predicted to double by 2050. If you, or someone you know, is one of them, we will be there to offer support and guidance every step of the way.

Whatever area of our work you are interested in supporting, you can help us make an incredible difference to the lives of people of all ages living with sight loss.

Recognising your gift

At Guide Dogs we form long-lasting relationships with our key supporters.  We take the time to really understand how you want to help with our work and ensure that we direct your support to the project or service that is of the most interest to you.

You can trust that your gift will be used to change the lives of people of all ages living with sight loss.

We will provide information demonstrating what your contribution has enabled us to achieve.

As a major supporter of Guide Dogs you truly have the chance to make a significant difference to the lives of people living with sight loss.

Your benefits will include:

  • A personal Guide Dogs’ contact

Our Major Relationships team works with individuals who donate gifts of £1,000 or more. When you make a donation at this level, one of our team will contact you personally. We will discuss your areas of interest and any information you would like to receive about Guide Dogs’ work

  • Choose how your gift is used

If there is a particular aspect of Guide Dogs’ work that you are keen to support, we will help to ensure your gift is directed there

  • Visits to see projects

There will be opportunities to visit a particular project or a Guide Dogs site like the National Breeding Centre, where you will see first-hand the difference your gift is making to the lives of people living with sight loss

  • Recognition and events

The Guide Dogs Major Relationships Team organises small social events, meetings and visits to sites and projects through the year.  These provide an opportunity for our Executive and Trustee Board members to thank you personally for your help and support, and gives you the opportunity to find out more about the important work that we do, as well as meeting other like-minded supporters

  • Personal updates

We produce personal and bespoke updates that are tailored to your interests.  We also keep you informed of any interesting news, research or campaigns around areas of our services that you are passionate about.

I am passionate about the work that we do at Guide Dogs.  Knowing that every day what we do makes such an incredible difference to the lives of people of all ages living with sight loss is immensely rewarding.  I believe that every person living with sight loss has a right to the same independence and freedom of movement as everyone else and I feel privileged to work closely with our key supporters to make this possible.
