Guide Dogs at School

Welcome to Guide Dogs at School.

Your school is invited to 'paws' for a day, and

  • Get involved with Guide Dogs
  • Find out what our amazing dogs do, and how!
  • Understand what it's like to be blind
  • Support our work
  • Meet a Guide Dogs speaker (and maybe a dog or pup!)

To make this day fun, informative and interactive, we've put together a cross-curricular, multimedia activities pack. It includes fun things to do, posters, whiteboard materials and DVDs featuring young blind and partially sighted people.

The packs also include all you need to put the event together – including interactive activity sessions that will help children understand:

  • Guide Dogs and what we do.
  • The importance of eyes and eyesight.
  • Visual impairment.
  • The challenges faced by blind and partially-sighted people.
  • How people can overcome these difficulties and lead independent lives.

For secondary school students there are more complex activities featuring design, art, music, literature and ICT.

There’s also lots of fun ideas for raising money!
