Week 12 - Quella is learning fast

Quella now understands the 'sit' command, so this week she has been learning the 'down' command. I do this by placing my hand, containing a treat, between her two front paws, while saying the word 'down'. The easiest way to find the treat is for her to go in the down position, when she does this, then I give her the treat from my hand, then I move on, and say the 'down' word but just wave my hand towards the floor. When she goes down just from watching my hand movement, she then gets a treat. She is picking this up, very quickly. At the moment I am only using her own food kibbles as treats, and if I give her quite a few, I will take it from her food allowance, to ensure her tummy doesn't get too full. She is on four feeds per day, until she is at least fourteen weeks old, at which time she can drop to three feeds, then at around five months, she can go onto two feeds, although the daily amount isn't any less, it is just the frequency that changes. The food actually increases, week by week, until fourteen weeks of age, when that will be the amount she remains on, for quite some time, unless she appears to be putting on too much weight, then it will be decreased slightly.
Quella has been to meet the vet this week, where she was weighed. She is now 11weeks old and weighs 8.5k. She is getting heavy to carry now. My husband, David, really loves to carry the puppies out and about in those first few weeks before they are fully vaccinated. He loves all the attention he gets from the public. I know if I have gone into a shop without him, he is never hard to find, as there will usually be a gathering of people around him, cooing over puppy, and asking lots of questions.
