Week 28 - Quella impresses supervisor

This week I was due a visit from my Puppy Walker Supervisor, as she visits her Puppy Walkers on a regular basis, 1st time Puppy Walker are visited more frequently, although she is always 'on call' where a Puppy Walker can request a visit when needed.
During her recent visit we travelled into a local town, and after walking around for a while, so my supervisor could see how Quella walks on a lead and how she reacted to the passing traffic. We then went into a cafe for a cup of coffee, to allow my supervisor to see how Quella behaves in an eating place. Once I had put her piece of bedding down for her to lie on, she climbed on it and promptly went to sleep, and remained so, for the duration of our stay.
When we were ready to leave we went to visit the ladies room (good job Quella is a little girl) which was on the first floor, so was a good opportunity for my supervisor to see Quella's ability to climb stairs, which she did very calmly. All was going really well until a lady used the electric hand dryer, then Quella decided it was time to leave, as she did not like the noise it made. I will now have to practice with her, until we can overcome this issue. Yet a few days earlier, I was shopping in the same town, and had just crossed the road at a road junction, when I heard sirens, and guessing that it was a ambulance approaching, I waited on the other side of the road at the kerbside, to enable me to see Quella's reaction, and sure enough the ambulance appeared from around the corner and passed us so closely, I could have put my hand out to touch it. It still had the sirens blaring and the blue beacons flashing. To my amazement Quella didn't move a limb, neither did she raise her hackles (like she sometimes does) and her tail didn't drop down - so she was not alarmed at all, and the ambulance was making far more noise than the hand dryer. It may have been the difference from indoor and outdoor, the dryer being in an enclosed space, thus amplifying the sound.

Hi Lizz. I'm glad that Quella got on well.

The hand dryers do sound scarey sometimes, and it could have been that toilets are often full of echos, so that makes the dryers sound much louder. Plus some of them come on when you stand near them. I personally don't use them because I don't like them much and I find them hard to work. Plus it's quicker to use a piece of toilet paper!

It could have even been that the air was near her so she didn't like the feel of that.

I hope you discover what is bothering her soon. Guess you'll have to visit lots of loos!

Take care, Torie and Ushi.

Sounds like things are going well, hand dryers aside.

From what Ive read in these entrys Im sure that you will find a way to sort out that situation.
