Week 43 - Quella becomes a role model

Quella in a glass lift
Quella and Mabs look over at the Television

This week we have had Mabs the Yellow Labrador to stay again, she was here for eight days, so Quella had a little playmate, and they got on really well together. Mabs hadn't been on a bus ride as she didn't like the look of that big monster, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to try the 'bus run' while she had Quella as a role model and mentor. It worked a treat as Mabs trotted onto the bus after Quella, we only did a short journey on the first day, just 3 stops and back, and then a few days later we went again, and I chose to get on first with Mabs, while husband David followed with Quella, and success, Mabs happily got on with no hesitation. I also did some free running with both of them, as Quella's recall is very good, I felt sure that Mabs would stay close to her, and come back when Quella did. All went very well, even when I recalled Mabs, she came back on her own. Quella missed her when she went home. We went into Chester by bus to seek out the glass lift, on my list of 'to do' with Quella, she lay down really nice during the bus journey. We visited several large stores in Chester with her, and she behaved really well, and eventually we arrived at the glass lift, she entered the lift without any hesitation, although she was a bit bewildered when the lift started to move, and she could see all around her, and the surroundings moving away from her,she didn't appear worried though, it was just so very different for her. When we did get out, I then entered the lift again and she happily joined me, so hadn't been unnerved at all. I will return to that lift again a few more times during Quella's time with me.
