Week 49 - Liz gets a new puppy

As planned I took Quella to Atherton training centre on Monday afternoon, where she would stay. Then on Tuesday Quella was taken to a veterinary surgeon, to have some x-rays taken, under anaesthetic, of her hips, shoulders and elbows, to see if she will be suitable for the breeding programme. Afterwards she would return to the training centre to recover from the anaesthetic. It was very strange not having her at home, I really missed her whilst she was away. I drove to collect her first thing on Wednesday morning. I was just so relieved that the snow stayed away, as I have to travel up the busy M6 to get to the training centre, and it is hudred miles round trip, and the Thelwall viaduct is always hectic, without snow making the journey hazardous.
On the Tuesday that Quella was away, I delivered a new puppy to a new Puppy Walker, as I am also a Puppy Walker Mentor, who helps our Supervisor when she is very busy. Sadly two days later, on Thursday, the puppy walker needed to give the puppy up, due to circumstances. So off I went to collect puppy. I brought her home, until a new puppy walker could be found, and expected to keep her until Christmas was over. I then told my Supervisor, that if Quella passes her x-rays, and leaves very soon, then I could keep the puppy. But by the next day I decided it would not be fair to move her again, to a new puppy walker, and as I have fallen in love with her, she is staying here with me, as puppy number eight. She is beautiful, her name is Dixie, and she is a Black Labrador cross Retriever, mum is a Black Labrador, and dad is a Golden Retriever, so here I am with another Black dog. Dixie has settled in well, and loves to play with Quella, and Quella is good with Dixie.
Quella has already got her Christmas stocking hanging up, complete with presents, I will now have to shop for some gifts for Dixie Dog.
Happy Christmas to every body, from myself and David, Quella and Dixie.

It's fatal when you get to see the pup before deciding. You just know you'll end up keeping it. I too have two pups in training. I feel like I'm never in the house, thankfully they get on really well.
