Volunteers at Challenge Events

We have places in a number of challenge events across the country including marathons, half marathons, treks and cycle races. We are always looking for helpers at these events to help give our amazing participants a Guide Dogs welcome!

Roles include cheerers, handing out goody bags, welcoming runners and marshalling. We do not offer guide running as a volunteer opportunity, if you are interested please find details here.

Volunteers at Exhibitions

To provide support at exhibitions and shows with our touring exhibition which provides an interactive experience for members of the public regarding eye health and eye care.

Volunteer Admin Support

Working alongside and/or with other departmental staff and volunteers you could be asked to undertake a range of general office duties such as data entry, filing, typing, telephone work post sorting etc. There may also be the opportunity to attend some fundraising events.

Volunteer Collection Box Co-ordinator

To place collection boxes in suitable locations and empty them every two-three months, banking the income or passing the funds on to a Treasurer
This role, dependent upon the area could also have requirements to co-ordinate a number of volunteers. It also has a need for record keeping plus development of new areas.

To possibly co-ordinate a number of other volunteers with regard to the collection of boxes and keep written records of where collection boxes are located and seek potential new locations.

Volunteer Group Chair

Be the main point of contact for people who want to raise money in your specific Group area, working in conjunction with the Local Guide Dogs Fundraising Co-ordinator ensuring that the Group operates within the Policies and Procedures of the Association. You would also be partly responsible for Group Members who are linked to the Branch.

Volunteer Group Member

This role is one of our more popular roles, gaining the volunteer the opportunity of attending local fundraising events such as street collections, local dog shows, flag days, tombola stalls, handing out leaflets and generally raising the awareness of Guide Dogs while raising valuable funds for the association.

Volunteer Group Secretary

Undertake the administrative duties of the Group and, along with other members of the Group hierarchy be partly responsible for Group Members.

Volunteer Speaker

Speakers are at the forefront of our volunteering department giving talks to various groups, including school children and being an ambassador for Guide Dogs.

The volunteer works very closely with our fundraising department.
