Our celebrity ambassadors

Jess Impiazzi – media personality and actress

“I’m so happy to be an ambassador for Guide Dogs because of the work it does for people like my mum Debbie. Mum lost her sight ten years ago to an eye condition called Uveal Effusion Syndrome which was devastating news for us all. But when she got her guide dog Casey, she got her freedom back. It makes me furious though when they are still turned away from taxis and restaurants as this is illegal! I support the charity as much as I can, whether that be lobbying MPs at Parliament, posting campaign news on Instagram and Twitter or sponsoring gorgeous puppies!”

Libby Clegg MBE – Paralympic gold medallist, World Record holder

“Life has been so much better for me since I was matched with my wonderful guide dog Hattie. She helps me get to wherever I want to go whether that’s my training ground, socialising with friends or just a trip to the supermarket. It’s astounding though that we’re still refused entry to places like hotels or taxis. Guide Dogs is doing fantastic work highlighting the issue with government and I’ve supported them in raising the issues in the media. I’ve also fronted the Safe and Sound campaign - calling for minimum sound levels on electric vehicles after I suffered a few near misses.”

Lindsey Russell – kid's TV presenter, best known for Blue Peter

“I’ve been on a huge learning journey getting to know the charity over the last few years. I first met Iggy, Blue Peter’s guide dog puppy-in-training, at the National Breeding Centre back in 2014 when she was just six weeks old. I had so much fun puppy raising, enjoying sleepovers and taking her to busy events – all part of her training. I felt genuine pride when I saw her matched with her first partner Callum and hearing about the difference she has made to his life. We love welcoming them back to Blue Peter to hear their news, they are a part of our family.”

Wendi Peters – TV and theatre actress

“I’m proud to have been an ambassador for Guide Dogs since 2012. My husband Kenny has a rare hereditary condition called PXE which means he only has peripheral vision. He’s had personal experience of the hurdles facing people with visual impairment, that can be easily avoided. I help support Guide Dogs’ work as much as I can whether that be signing a petition or donating one of my recipes to a bake sale. I was delighted to host the launch of Guide Dogs Week 2016 and take part in an immersive blindfold walk. If you’d love to support Guide Dogs too, why not sponsor a puppy like I do?”
