Walk Your Socks Off!
Registration for Walk Your Socks Off has now closed and will reopen again in 2021. Thanks to everyone who took part!
Need more tips on how to get those steps in at home? Fear not we’ve got loads more top tips, a fantastic Facebook group with opportunities to become our star walker by sharing your stepping stories, and by signing up you’ll get regular emails throughout your challenge with both fundraising and stepping ideas.
You'll be surprised how many you can fit in with a few home workouts throughout the week (no shortage of inspiration on YouTube at the moment), adding some extra stair climbs and putting your favourite tunes on to dance your way through your household chores. Want to take it a step further then cha-cha-cha whilst chatting on the phone, stride your walk through story time, bop whilst baking or march your way through a movie!
And if you need more inspiration, then we have socks for you! Hit your fundraising target and we’ll replace those worn-out socks with an awesome Guide Dogs pair.
Just wanted to say how much fun I've had with my girls completing the #WalkYourSocksOff2019 challenge. We've walked in rain and sunshine (plenty of that, thankfully). It's been great for my daughter to use it as a chance to practice her long white cane skills too.
Did you know?
- £140 could buy a Starter Kit for a new guide dog owner, containing everything they need to start a life with their new guide dog. This includes the iconic white guide dog harness.
- Depending on your stride length, an hour of Zumba, dancing or circuits adds up to about 5,000 steps – imagine how many steps you could rack up doing that every day.
Get stepping
You can set a target as a group and share the load amongst friends and family (virtually of course) or go it alone and build as many steps as you can into your daily routine – in the garden, up and down the stairs and with as many workouts as your time and energy allow!
We’ll be with you every step of the way providing you with our top tips to rack up those steps safely and within current government guidance.
What’s more, we’ve created a Walk Your Socks Off Facebook community where participants can share the inspirational ways they are walking their socks off around their home – don’t forget to join in!
